The Department has been ranked #1 in the United States for 10 years in a row by US News and World Report.

Dr. Ishii is the first facial plastic surgeon to have received a prestigious National Institutes of Health K12 Award to pursue research in facial plastic surgery.  As part of this award, Dr. Ishii has the privilege to pursue a Master of Health Sciences degree at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the #1 school of public health in the country.  Dr. Ishii is applying the clinical research skills she acquired to identify the best techniques in facial plastic surgery.

Dr. Ishii’s practice is unique because of her expertise in hair restoration for men and women.  She offers hair transplantation for male and female pattern baldness, as well as for scars of the scalp, eyebrows, and face.  In addition to her hair restoration practice, Dr. Ishii also offers functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty, surgery for rejuvenation of the aging face, reconstructive procedures of the face and neck, management of facial fractures, and minimally-invasive procedures, such as injections of fillers and Botox ® for wrinkles.

Dr. Ishii was an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate from the University of Florida College of Medicine.  During medical school, she quickly distinguished herself and demonstrated her commitment to research as one of only 40 medical students in the U.S. to receive a highly competitive Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Award.  This award allowed her to defer her medical school training for one year to pursue research at the National Institutes of Health.

After completing medical school, Dr. Ishii completed her residency training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and pursued additional subspecialty training at Johns Hopkins in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  The outstanding mentorship Dr. Ishii received served to further define her career pursuits and her broad-based fellowship training exposed her to all aspects of the specialty, including cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face and neck.

Now a fulltime faculty member, Dr. Ishii is focused on establishing the first program in hair restoration at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and pursuing research in facial perception to understand the impact of facial deformities on observer attention.   Dr. Ishii is also enjoying the benefits of academic medicine as a teacher and mentor for medical students, residents, and fellows.
